Updates about government-backed hacking and disinformation

Aurora WDC Analysis: Google’s Threat Analysis Group typically tracks more than 270 targeted or government backed cyber-attack groups from more than 50 countries. The distribution of these attacks is focused primarily on the United States, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Malaysia. The attached map highlights how many countries across the world have been affected by the uptick of these attacks which typically take the shape of phishing, threats and disinformation. Many hacking groups use Gmail accounts and masquerade as members of the WHO, and offer to send updates on the coronavirus, these notifications attempt to trick users into giving up personal information. Users working from home may receive an email like this, potentially giving hackers access to company information.
